Qualified and educated, these Congolese hands have found a safe refuge on this island. Now these African hands work at growing communities and raising vegetables on their County Council allotments near Leixlip in County Dublin. Here they grow some tastes from home, using the Konga tool to remove the weeds, Amaranthus grow beside cabbages, African flavour mingle with Irish staples integrating flavours and foods from different continents.
The hands love to harvest the fresh vegetables, fresh food with taste of home, is nourishment for their souls. Hard work for the hands, coated with earth, sets them free and provides therapy for the mind.
